  Pop Smoke's new song "AP" has been released. The song is apart of the soundtrack for the new film "BOOGIE", where the late Pop Smoke makes his acting debut as the character Monk.  "BOOGIE" is a basketball film, starring Taylor Takahashi as Alfred "Boogie" Chin, where Pop Smoke plays his rival Monk. The film was filmed before Pop Smoke's untimely death in February 2020.  The lyric video above features scenes from the movie and some behind the scenes footage. Watch the music video above!

  Last night, Vanessa Bryant took to Instagram to address an insensitive lyric by rapper Meek Mill about her late husband and daughter Kobe and Gianna Bryant.  The lyric was a part of a leaked snippet of a song titled, “Kobe” by Meek Mill and Lil Baby. The snippet has now been removed from social media platforms, but several blogs and news sites were able to get the lyrics to the song. It went as following:  “Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe” This is a reference to the January 2020 helicopter crash that killed basketball star Kobe Bryant , daughter Gianna Bryant and 7 others. Meek Mill faced a lot of backlash for these lyrics and Vanessa Bryant addressed it with this Instagram post. “Dear @MeekMill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period. Here's 6 trending songs that you didn't know were samples. Coming in at #1, I have Streets by Doja Cat. Streets is track 9 on Doja's second studio album, titled "Hot Pink." It recently became an overnight hit and even made its debut on Billboard's Hot 100 chart after the viral Silhouette Challenge on Tik Tok. Streets, which was produced by Blaq Tuxedo, samples B2K's "Streets is Callin'" off the 2003 You Got Served soundtrack.  The sample is between 0:00 and 0:32 seconds and goes throughout the song. At #2, I have What You Know Bout Love? by late Pop Smoke. What You Know Bout Love? is a single from Pop Smoke's post humous debut album, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for The Moon, which samples Differences by Ginuwine.   Over the course of my blog, I plan to highlight Hip Hop and R&B artists to watch out for in Arkansas and surrounding areas. This week’s artist to watch out for is Tez4Real.  Tez4Real, was born in Los Angeles, California but moved to Central Arkansas 4 years ago. He says, “I like to say I’m a mix of the West Coast and the Natural State.’’  Tez likes to describe his music as experimental and very West Coast influenced. He adds his current musical influences are Roddy Ricch, Kendrick Lamar and NoCap. However, the overall type of music he makes reflects on how he’s feeling at the time. Recently, Tez4Real dropped a new single titled, “My Dawgs”, following the release of his first single “Pretend” so I asked what the creative process was like for the single. “ I was just in the studio and in the zone so I went in and knocked it out in about an hour.” said Tez.  I also asked if we could expect a music video for the new single. The track list of Judas and the Black Messiah: The Inspired Album has been released and people are raving. Judas and the Black Messiah is an autobiographical drama film about Fred Hampton, the Chairman of the Illinois Black Panther party and his betrayal by the FBI Informant William O’Neal, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield. The film releases on Friday, February 12th in theaters and HBO Max. Tuesday, February 9th, musicians such as G Herbo, H.E.R., Masego and others took to Instagram to share the track list for the film, which was produced by Hit-Boy, Dash Sherrod, Ryan Coolger and Archie Davis.  The 22 track long list features songs from Nas, Polo G, Lil Durk, A$AP Rocky, Pooh Shiesty and many others.  Though, the song that caught everyone’s eye is  a collaboration with the late Nipsey Hussle and Jay Z titled, “What It Feels Like”. There has even been a large amount of promise rings and breakable chocolate hearts circulating the Internet. In these times, it’s hard to decide on the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
